Dr. Nalya Jessamy is a Family Physician and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner dedicated to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care to women navigating perimenopause and menopause.
She completed her medical degree at McMaster University and her Family Medicine residency at the University of Toronto, before spending nine years in a community health centre focused on caring for immigrant and refugee women. This experience gave her deep insight into the complexities of the human condition, the profound impact of social determinants of health, and the inseparable connection between mental and physical wellbeing.
Dr. Jessamy also worked as a GP psychotherapist, further strengthening her commitment to supporting patients through life's stressors and mental health challenges like anxiety and depression — an experience that continues to shape her holistic, compassionate approach to care.
Since 2016, she has practiced at Albany Medical Clinic, in Toronto's East End, where a busy and comprehensive family practice has given her a broad and nuanced understanding of medicine across all stages of life. Recognizing the significant impact hormonal changes have on both physical and mental health, she pursued additional expertise in menopause care, with a particular interest in how the menopause transition affects mood, anxiety, and ADHD. She is passionate about helping women understand their symptoms, explore treatment options, and feel like themselves again.
